Weekend Notes

Winston flowers by M Piazza, hyacinths and anemonesAs you can probably tell by the images here (taken at the loveliest flower shop in Boston, via Gardenista), I’m suffering from serious Spring fever. The temps in Austin have been such a tease — sunny and shorts-appropriate one minute, grey and cloudy the next (i.e., at this very moment as I gaze wistfully out the window.) At least the real spring will be here before we know it, and I’m forging ahead with preparations this weekend: cleaning out the closets in what will be baby boy’s nursery to make room for his first little outfits, browsing online for a couple of breezy dresses, and making this simple raspberry-ricotta cake for an afternoon snack. Also, my mom is turning 60 this week, so next weekend I’m taking her to NYC (her first time!) for a couple days of museum-hopping, great food, and Cabaret on Broadway. Since NYC trips are usually all work for me, it’ll be fun to put on my sightseeing hat again and see the city with fresh eyes — and of course spend some rare one-on-one time with my mom. Hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend, and keep reading for my favorite links from around the web last week!
