When you meet Austin-based stylist Beth Hitchcock, the first thing you notice (aside from the fact that she’s jaw-droppingly pretty and most likely wearing an awesome outfit) is her ear-to-ear grin, irrepressible giggle, and actual guffaw when someone says something truly funny. Comparisons to vintage Goldie Hawn (the ultimate fun-haver, IMHO) are almost too obvious.
Beth’s unbridaled energy for everything she does — from her fashion styling work to her burgeoning modeling career to her body positivity activism — is downright contagious, and clear evidence that being a true multi-hyphenate is the way of life for today’s young creative.
We spent the morning with Beth to get the goods on her must-have beauty products, essential AM rituals, and find out exactly what inspired her latest project with business partner Chelsea Francis called Living Above the Rules. Scroll on and get inspired by this beauty who radiates creativity and charm.

What inspired Living Above the Rules?
LATR was inspired by an Instagram post that I did about a year and a half ago where I posted a photo of myself wearing only a bra and shorts with no makeup and no retouching. I wrote about my struggle with my self image and how I was done trying to fit into a size mold that I wasn’t, along with the negative thoughts I had about my body.
The amount of positive feedback I received from other women struck a chord. Chelsea and I came up with the idea to help other women embrace their bodies as they are and encourage them to break the style rules they have placed on themselves. Because those rules come from insecurities we have about ourselves, and those insecurities limits us in more ways than just our outer appearance.
Tell me about your creative collaboration with your business partner, Chelsea Francis (who also shot the images in this story!).
I slid into Chelsea’s DM’s on Instagram and asked her on a friend date. We had a great connection right away and both had a ton of ideas that lined up with each others. I think before jumping into business with someone, its important to test the waters. Make sure you are both on the same page with expectations.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
My days are so varied. I am usually juggling a lot of projects at once when I am working from home. So task lists are very critical for me.
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
I start with a 10 minute meditation. I went through a period where insomnia was affecting me frequently. I juggle a lot and my career is uncertain and changing constantly, which can be a cause of anxiety for me. Ive found that starting my day meditating keeps me grounded no matter where I am and helps me start my day with a clearer, calmer mind.
What’s something you do in the morning that gives you courage to break the rules in your daily life?
I try to always say something I like about myself out loud when I’m having those self doubt days. You know the days where you hate everything you put on and don’t like the image you’re seeing in the mirror. Just being kind to yourself can make a world of difference.
Describe your morning beauty routine from start to finish.
When I get back from my workout, I dry brush my entire body before hopping in the shower. Once a week, I’ll do a body scrub that I make myself with coffee grounds, sugar and coconut oil. Once I get out of the shower, I moisturize with a Lubriderm lotion and Argan oil mix on my body and Dr. Hauschka Day Cream on my face. I then do Gua sha on my face and finish off with Keys Solar RX face sunscreen. I always let my hair air dry and i don’t wear makeup on days that I am not on set.
What do you eat for breakfast?
My usual is two scrambled eggs, half an avocado sprinkled with Trader Joes Everything But the Bagel Seasoning and berries. Paired with a collagen coffee made with cold brew, Oatley oat milk, Vital Proteins collagen and cinnamon.
Morning media rituals:
Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations Podcast and The Daily Skimm.
Favorite books:
I’m one of those people who is always reading a bunch of books at once, my nightstand is always stacked. One of my favorite books of all time is The Confederacy of Dunces, I’m halfway through Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine—and it reminds me of a modern day version of The Confederacy of Dunces.
Getting-ready soundtrack:
Depending on the mood its usually Lizzo or Fleetwood Mac.
Do you work out in the morning?
I do prefer morning workouts, when I am not traveling, I workout with a friend, the buddy system keeps me accountable. We do ClassPass and pick different classes around the city. My ideal workout time is 45 min.

Bath or shower?
I do both but I love to spend Sunday nights in the bath. I’ll light a candle, put on a face mask and a podcast and just soak. The two masks that I am loving right now are Glow Recipe Watermelon mask and a homemade one I make that is greek yogurt, honey and rose water.
