3 Festive Holiday Cake Toppers

The countdown to Christmas has begun! 25 days left. I’m looking forward to relaxing with friends and family, sipping on hot cocoa, and handing out some seriously awesome gifts. This year I decided to host some people at my house for a holiday party, but I quickly realized I may have bit off more than I can chew… In addition to sending out holiday cards and putting up the Christmas tree, I also have to create an array of delicious desserts for my guests to devour. Since I’m not a professional cake decorator (or baker, for that matter), I decided to invest in a trusty, store-bought cake from Whole Foods and decorate it with fun cake toppers. I opted for a layer cake covered in white icing and topped with meringues to serve as a blank canvas for my decor. Scroll down to check out the holiday cake toppers I designed and pick up some tips for creating your own!

This mini rosemary wreath and banner cake topper will add a rustic touch to your cozy holiday party at home. Snuggle up by the fire with fuzzy socks and comfy blankets and enjoy!

What You’ll Need:

  • green floral wire
  • rosemary springs
  • two wooden skewers
  • baker’s twine
  • kraft paper
  • scissors
  • white pen
  • hot glue


  1. To create the wreath, wrap the floral wire into a circular shape three times.
  2. Tuck the ends of the rosemary sprigs into the wire and wrap the leafy edges around the wire to hide it.
  3. Cut out a banner shape of kraft paper and use your white pen to write a happy holiday message.
  4. Using hot glue, attach the banner to the front of the wreath and wooden skewers to the back of the wreath.
  5. Tie a small bow onto the wreath with baker’s twine as a finishing touch.
  6. Place extra rosemary sprigs around the base of your cake for an added detail.

Top your cake with Christmas cookie pops to incorporate the tradition of baking and decorating cookies into your holiday entertaining. Kids will love munching on a hand-decorated Christmas tree or snowman.

What You’ll Need:

  • Christmas cookies
  • wooden skewers
  • icing in white, green, and red
  • colorful sprinkles
  • coconut flakes


  1. Soak wooden skewers in water before inserting them into cookie dough. Bake according to instructions.
  2. Once completely cooled, decorate with icing and sprinkles.
  3. Insert cookie pops into cake. Sprinkle coconut flakes on top for a snowy scene.

Wow your guests with a New Year’s Eve cake they’ll remember all year. Go crazy with gold and silver decor to throw a party on your cake! Too much is never enough.

What You’ll Need:

  • ornaments
  • gift bows
  • tinsel
  • wooden skewers
  • scissors
  • hot glue


  1. Cut 2″ sections of tinsel and hot glue to wooden skewers. Insert into cake.
  2. Top cake with groups of ornaments in various shapes, sizes, and textures.
  3. Add metallic gift bows for a finishing touch.
