9 Sunscreens Our Beauty Experts Can’t Survive Summer Without

By Camille Styles

I’ve finally become part of the smart grown-up women’s club that swears by wearing sunscreen every day. Sure, I sort of tried to say for years that I “always wore sunscreen,” but in hindsight, the meager amounts of SPF 15 that I put on selective body parts only in all-day blazing sun doesn’t really count. It wasn’t until I was pregnant with Henry, and started dealing with sun-induced melasma, that I started getting vigilant about my sunscreen use. And the new-to-me concept of reapplying! Since all sunscreens are not created equal (and some actually feel gross), I tapped our panel of beauty experts to spill the sunscreens they can’t live without. Keep scrolling for their picks, and I’d love to hear yours in the comments!

Beautycounter Dew Skin

For tinted sunscreen, I live by Beautycounter’s Dew Skin…it’s amazing. I love the look, the shades, and the consistency. It makes you glow! For daily sunscreen protection, I like Elta MD oil free sunscreen. It’s pretty clean and doesn’t make me break out, which most do.

Supergoop City Sunscreen Serum

Tip: Make sure to exfoliate every night after using sunscreen. It will keep any break outs at bay.

Babyganics SPF 30 Sunscreen Stick

It’s so small so I carry it in my purse and can apply it to Parker whenever I need to. It is on the thicker side, so blending takes some time, but all of the others I have tried can break out my skin.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light

Gucci Westman told me that she swears by this. I love that it’s a spray and is so easy to apply.

Elta MD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46

I apply this every single day on my face, neck, chest, and back of my hands…even in the dead of winter.

— Nadine Abramcyk, founder of tenoverten

Avene Mineral Ultra-Light Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50+

I prefer mineral sunblocks (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) because they reflect UV rays and last longer than chemical versions. This one feels silky, rubs in easily, and keeps me sun damage-free even on beach vacations.

Acure Spray Suncreen

This all-natural sunscreen uses only physical sunblock ingredients, but it’s light and virtually undetectable.

Dermalogica Pure Light SPF 50

I use this stuff religiously, no matter if I’m spending five minutes or five hours in the sun. I smear it on my hands and décolletage too.

— Lauren Caruso, site director at StyleCaster.com

MD Solar Sciences Mineral Creme SPF 50

I love the MD Solar Sciences range for its high SPF but thin formula quality.
