I have to admit I’m often skeptical when I hear others talk about how “down to earth” certain celebrities are, but y’all: Brooklyn Decker is the real deal, and we spent an incredibly fun morning at her rural abode in west Austin chatting about her super streamlined getting-ready routine, life as a new mom, and our shared fascination with disaster prepping (don’t ask.) Scroll through to find out the actress’ must-have products and get a peek at the insanely gorgeous home that she shares with husband Andy Roddick and their adorable 1-year-old, Hank. And before you ask for the name of her interior designer, I should mention that Decker designed it herself — from the jaw-dropping marble in the kitchen to the eclectic selection of art. With her warm smile and easygoing attitude, you could almost forget how talented she is… but not quite.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Snuggle with my kid, which is so dreamy, then coffee. Oh how I love my morning coffee…
Brooklyn welcomed us with a breakfast spread that included warm croissants and cookies with Cafe Du Monde french pressed coffee.
What do you eat for breakfast?
My favorite breakfast is the migas royale plate from Taco Deli. Refried black beans, eggs, avocado, and flour tortillas. I try to have it every morning I’m home in Austin.
One of the pieces from Brooklyn’s collection of kitchy coffee mugs and juice glasses.
What’s your favorite getting ready soundtrack?
Don’t make fun of me…but I am a devout Dave Matthews Band fan! So I usually have that playing throughout the house in the morning – or Leon Bridges for a sweeter, lazier day off.
How long does it take you to get ready from start to finish?
Pre-baby? 25 minutes. Post-baby? 6 minutes. I’m usually chasing after my son, so it’s a quick face wash and top knot.
Healthiest morning habit?
Some sort of unpacking, organizing, laundry, etc. I feel that tasks like these are really good for the mind. It’s a productive way to start the day.
We swooned over Brooklyn’s distinctive kitchen, which truly feels like the focal point of the home. She searched for the perfect marble that reminded her of “cookies ‘n cream” before finally stumbling upon the one at a San Antonio marble yard. Their hands-on approach to the renovation even included refinishing the cabinets themselves.
What’s your daily uniform?
Skinny jeans, a vintage t-shirt, and a pair of Frye boots.
(fans take note: Austin’s very first The Frye Company store just opened at Domain Northside)
Brooklyn opened up the doors to her dreamy closet, perfectly organized and filled with drool-worthy pieces in fun prints and patterns.
The actress has a soft spot for special vintage finds – many of which she scored from eBay and Etsy.
Do you stick to the same makeup and hair routine or do you like to experiment?
I definitely like to experiment – which is funny given I rarely wear makeup. I think “getting ready” is such a treat for me these days that I like to have fun with it.
Ours jaw dropped over Brooklyn’s color-coordinated shoe storage.
Do you have a signature scent?
My favorite scent is probably Bulgari White Tea. I’ll wear that for special occasions.
If you could only put on one item of makeup in the morning, what would it be?
Glossier Generation G lipstick in Jam. It’s a nice soft stain and makes your lips look like it’s their natural color.
Do you workout in the morning?
I wish…
Brooklyn is wearing the Jodi over-the-knee boots from The Frye Company.
Brooklyn’s chic ranch-inspired home is filled with colorful accents, comfy seating, and an incredible collection of well-chosen art — many of the pieces have a tongue-in-cheek sensibility that reflects her innate sense of humor.
What’s your favorite product to use in the shower?
Definitely my L’Occitane shower oil.
Brooklyn cuddles with their two bulldogs, Billie Jean and Bob Costas.
What is your worst morning habit?
Hitting the snooze button.
I never leave the house without _______.
Water, sunglasses, and my iPhone charger.
One word to describe your morning?
Cozy.
