After a long, sticky summer of avoiding anything heavy or greasy for my skin and hair, I always seem to be caught off-guard when the temperatures suddenly drop and my skin is desperately thirsty and my hair is a frizzy mess. Of course, with winter still (thankfully!) being many months away, it’s not exactly time to pull out thick creams and heavy hair masks; rather, during transitional times of year I turn my focus to light oils to care for everything from my flaky skin to my frizzy split ends and even my cuticles.

“Light oils” sounds like an oxymoron, right? But, I promise you it isn’t. As long as you’re choosing products made with plant-based oils, rather than ingredients like mineral oil (which is a derivative of petroleum), your skin and hair will soak it right up with no heavy or greasy residue. Here, I’ve rounded up some favorite oil-based products to keep you nourished and glowing from head to toe this fall.

Retinoic Nutrient Face Oil from Tata Harper

If your skin is needing some rejuvenation along with the hydrating effects of oil, take this new pick from Tata Harper for a spin. It features Rosehip Oil, a natural source of retinoic acid via vitamin A, which helps to promote cell turnover to smooth wrinkles and even skin tone.

Overnight Detox Oil from Caudalie

Featuring antioxidant grape seed oil along with neroli, lavender, and carrot oils, this dry oil is specifically designed to be used overnight to lessen the effects of pollution and other stressors on your skin.

Noni Glow Body Oil by Kora

Nourish your skin from head to toe with this organic oil (a mix of noni extract and rosehip and sunflower seed oil) that is both nourishing and super-lightweight—no need to wait before getting dressed!

Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil

Oil for your lips might sound kind of crazy, but I promise you that this is the treatment that your lips have been waiting for. Boasting a blend of 28 essential oils, 10 lipid-rich plant oils, plus four vitamins, this treatment goes beyond just moisturizing your lips to truly smoothing lines and boosting volume.

Pre-Wash Treatment Oil from Farmaesthetics

If you worry that oil-based treatments will leave your hair overly greasy, a pre-shampoo treatment is for you. This certified organic blend nourishes hair and scalp but shampoos away, leaving hair and scalp nourished and encouraging healthy hair growth.

Tri-Dosha Nourishing Foot Oil

For a mini spa treatment that you can do at home, try slathering your feet with this peppermint- and tea tree oil-packed foot oil, which provides an aromatherapy boost while it smoothes your soles.

Botanics Triple Age Renewal Facial Oil

This face oil for maturing skin blends super-light jojoba and almond oils with purple orchid, which plumps the skin and reduces the appearance of lines.

Vapour Organic Beauty

Treat your nails and cuticles to this quick-absorbing formula, which features jojoba and pomegranate seed oils to smooth skin immediately and help prevent dry nails and cuticles with continued use.

Loving all of these oils! I remember I used to be so scared to try oils thinking they would make my face even greasier but they do the exact opposite. Awesome round up girl!

I’d love to try any of these oils! I’m currently enjoying the Rose Hip oil from The Ordinary. I feel like it helped reduce my pores and smooth out my skin.

I’ve been using Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery for several years and it’s the best that I’ve found. Every morning my skin is soft, dewy and radiant. Literally the first time I used it overnight, I woke up, and my husband looked at me and said “you look radiant!” He is NOT they kind of guy to give compliments either. I was like “SOLD!”
