An added bonus of our team moving into the #CSBungalow last fall? Adam and I suddenly had a lot more space freed up at our house now that it was doubling as my company headquarters, and we could finally turn that back bedroom off the pool into the real guest room it was always supposed to be. Y’all know that I’m more than a little obsessed with the beach, and this was the perfect spot to bring all of my surfer girl dreams to life. Because what houseguest wouldn’t want to feel like they were whisked away to a tropical island for a night? Read on to see how it came together…

I started where bedroom design usually starts: with a perfect bed to set the tone. I love the unexpected contrast of black stripes against bleached out abaca on Serena & Lily’s Carson Bed for a graphic take on earthy materials.

I took a deep dive down Etsy to find the art for above the bed. I wanted a bleached out beach photograph that was more sand-toned than the blues and greens that are typical for this genre. I found my dream piece by Morgan at Color Pop Photo Shop.

This bedding from Cultiver is a total dream – I got a set for our bed, too. It’s really hard to choose between all the colorways, but I went with the linen sheets in smoke grey, the duvet cover in blush, bedcover in charcoal, and pillows in charcoal. The cute fringe-y accent pillows are the Topangas from Serena & Lily.

Does anyone else love everything rattan? I wanted to give guests a spot to drop their keys and check the mirror before heading out the door, and this South Seas Bar Cart is an unexpected stand-in for a console table. An added bonus is that when we don’t have people staying with us, I wheel it out and use it for an extra serving area for parties.

Throw open the french doors and let those curtains blow in the breeze. I laid down a natural jute rug for added texture and coziness.

A pair of matching leather stools is an unexpected take on a bench at the end of the bed, and gives the room kind of a boho hotel vibe – plus they’re super versatile and I can drag them out when we need extra seating in the living room.

You know how we were talking about the woven chair obsession? It doesn’t get much cooler than the Palisades Chair that folds up and has a built-in carrying handle (hello, beach picnic!) but is elevated enough to accent an indoor space like this one. Plus, that price point is too good.

I carried the ocean vibes through to the adjoining bathroom with a little gallery wall made up of some of my pieces from Minted plus my favorite Christian Chaize.

I’m feeling ready for summer guests! Who wants to pack their suitcase and come on over?
