Today’s home tour is every bit as colorful and energetic as its vivacious owner, Kristin Gish, co-owner of SUPPLY, Austin-based tastemaker, and all-around social butterfly. The first time I set foot in Kristin’s home was at the baby shower of my friend Kim (also Kristin’s business partner), and I was immediately floored by her unabashed use of color and unique way of mixing traditional elements with surprising modern details. About your home:
We moved to Austin in 2013 from New York City. Greg and I are both drawn to older homes with history so when we found our house we loved that it had a classic, plantation feel. However, it was built in 2009, so we don’t have to deal with the headaches that come along with owning an older home.
What you love most about it:
I love the bright, open airiness of our home. After coming from a dark, pre-war, brownstone apartment, natural light and lots of space were essential for me.
On working with an interior designer:
I knew when we moved I wanted to use my dear friends Anne Foster and Suysel Cunningham of the New York based design team Tilton Fenwick. Not only am I lucky enough to call them good friends, I am also obsessed with their aesthetic and everything they do. Our creative visions aligned really well. They both know I am not afraid of color so it was super fun getting to work together.

Tips for making a home chic + kid-friendly:
There are so many great fabric and upholstery lines that don’t cost an arm and a leg, so if milk spills it’s not the end of the world! Also, wallpaper is a having a major comeback. You can transform any room with wallpaper and make it a fun space for the whole family.

Tips for incorporating bold choices in your home design:
One of the reasons I worked with Tilton Fenwick is because they are known for their bold use of pattern and color. They mix and match things one would never imagine to work – but it just does! When it came to decorating this house, my thoughts were, “We are in Texas now. Go big or go home.” If you like color, go for it – and go for it all the way.
The perfect night at home is:
Dinner with my family, a good bottle of wine, and watching Game of Thrones with my husband once we put the girls down.

The inspiration behind starting SUPPLY.
After moving to Austin and meeting my partners Callie Jenschke and Kim West, we all three recognized the need for more shopping resources for the local designers. We all knew with our varying design sensibilities that we could create and curate something really magical with SUPPLY and bring something to Austin that just didn’t exist.

My dream guests would be Gwyneth Paltrow or Reese Witherspoon. To me, both of these ladies are super chic, savvy businesswomen – and seem like a lot of fun.

Biggest design challenge in your home:
Being in a newer house, the first floor has an open floorplan, which we love, however there isn’t a lot of wall space for art. Greg and I really love to collect art and have had to find creative ways to hang it.
