I’ve always loved the idea of hosting a wreath making party leading up to the holidays… gathering a group of friends to craft something pretty to decorate their homes, combined with plenty of conversation and boozy cocoa drinking. It’s the perfect excuse to get everyone together to celebrate the holidays, devour a cheeseboard, bake some holiday cookies, and get crafty! Our friend Samantha from Bricolage Floral Studio is sharing an easy DIY wreath that uses materials you can pick up at any craft store. Looking for the perfect excuse to stay in this weekend? The inspiration behind my design was to create a holiday wreath that I could decorate the inside of my home with. Something that felt less bulky, more modern but still with the wild organic feel that I love.
Here’s what you’ll need to create Samantha’s winter berry wreath:
- Wreath Hoop
- Floral Wire
- Wire Cutters
- Greenery and berries
Step 1
Create small hand held bundles of the greenery clippings.
Step 2
Lay the bundle over the metal hoop, and attach the bundle with floral wire where the stems meet the metal hoop.
Step 3
When creating your second bundle, don’t stress about it being exactly like the first one in terms of fullness or in the amount of each type of greenery used. The variety will help keep things feeling asymmetrical and organic.
Step 4
Place this bundle on top of the stems of the first bundle and continue with the floral wire, wrapping around the second bundle all the way down to the stems.
Step 5
Continue this until you feel your wreath is complete, we like to leave a bit of the hoop peeking out.
Step 6
To hide gaps and unsightly stems or wire, secure air plants to these spots by pushing a 2″ piece of floral wire through the bottom and wrapping it around the hoop.

When choosing your foliage, use greenery that will dry well. We used seeded eucalyptus, cedar, grevillea foliage & nandina.
Be sure all of your bundles are facing down and flowing in the same direction.
Do not cut your floral wire until after you’ve secured your very last bundle.
Although these can be hung outside, these wreaths are especially great for indoor use as holiday decor or gifts.
