As I write this, there are only 14 hours left of 2018, so hope y’all don’t mind if today’s letter is a little more introspective than usual. For me, this time of year is always a tangible reminder of how quickly life passes, and ringing in a new year makes me think about the fact that I don’t want to waste a even one day of it. For the last few years, instead of New Years resolutions, I’ve chosen a single word to represent my mindset for the next 365 days. This year’s word isΒ Intention. For the first time ever, choosing my word felt like a no-brainer since I’ve been kind of obsessed lately with thinking and reading about ways to bring more intention and presence into every area of my life.

I think that so many of us are rushing through our lives – waiting for the weekend, the vacation, or the day we feel like we’ve somehow “made it.”

This year, I want to bring more intention to every day and truly show up wherever I am. I want to actually hear the subtle meaning behind a conversation and the silly song that Phoebe sings while I make breakfast; see a stranger’s kind smile and the sunrise that lights up the morning while I drive to my workout. Those are the parts of life that make it amazing, right?

Our theme for the month of January is “Habits,” and it feels like the perfect way to kickoff my journey of bringing more intention to everything I do. How can we change those habits that have us going through life on autopilot? What new habits can we introduce that will free us from distracted thinking and bring more joy into our lives? You can expect loads of advice from some of our favorite experts, plus fresh ideas for cultivating habits that lead to healthy eating, happy relationships, life organization, and taking your beauty and style game to the next level.

    Happy New Year, Camille! I love the fresh start that this time of year offers, and I’m determined to take healthy eating and meal planning to new heights in 2019, while continuing to enjoy treats, of course. πŸ˜‰ Not to be cliche, but finding balance is another big one for me. I’m juggling a lot these days. Thank you for offering such amazing, inspiring content time and time again. In terms of bringing presence into my daily life, I have to say this…the older I get, the more I look back at past years as being ideal in some way. The free time I had in my 20s, the way my skin was at its most glowing in my early 30s, etc. But going through those times, I was always hoping certain things would pass so I could get to an easier or more “successful” phase of life. I wish I could write a letter to my past self saying “Enjoy where you are NOW!!!” That sentiment is enough to make me realize that I will one day wish I could be back at this very moment (no matter how hard it seems in the present). So I’d better enjoy it to the fullest while it lasts! Thanks again, and cheers to an amazing 2019!!!

      This is such a great reminder for me too, Nicole. So many of us are waiting for our real life to begin… while missing out on the amazing day right in front of us! Cheers to living life to the fullest right now. And I love that you said “ENJOY” treats. One of my goals in the area of food and nutrition is to really enjoy and savor the foods that I love while I’m eating them, rather than mindlessly scarfing them down. πŸ˜‰
