Happy first weekend of spring, friends! The last couple of work weeks ran me ragged, so Adam and I played hooky on Thursday and Friday and we all took a four-day weekend (the kids were on spring break.) If I could sum up our staycation in one word, it would be play: we heated up the pool, invited friends over, and pretended like it was summer; made blueberry pancakes and ate them in the sun, and Adam surprised us all by bringing home skateboards and suddenly our front driveway has turned into a skate park (watch my IG stories  to see.) It’s made me think about the importance of play. Phoebe’s first grade class has a set time every day for “free independent play” where they can build with blocks, draw pictures, bust out craft supplies, or just sit and read, and I want to take a cue and make time for free play in my own life. Chunks of time where I can experiment and feel creative and embrace the freedom of doing whatever I actually want in a given moment, with no real end goal in mind. With summer on the horizon, I think it’s the perfect time to prioritize play, don’t you?

And a favorite reader comment from Amanda on Cultivating a Growth Mindset:

My son’s elementary school implements the growth mindset concept in the classroom & beyond. It truly has been life-changing for all of us. To know and be reminded that anyone can do anything if you put your mind to it, is truly invaluable. Thank you for sharing this information. we all need the reminder to love & believe in ourselves more! We all have it in us.

Hope y’all have a wonderful weekend, and scroll on for my favorite reads from around the web this week…
