Love Letters and Notes from the Weekend

Rise and shine.

Morning, friends! How are y’all holding up on another weekend of our “new normal?” It’s hard to believe we’ve been quarantining at varying degrees for nearly six months. In many ways, it’s an incredible testimony to our inborn ability as humans to adapt to our circumstances. We’ve accepted mask wearing as part of life (for now), adjusted to ever-changing back-to-school schedules (which would have been unthinkable before all this), and gotten used to staying home a lot more than we go out.

Still, I think it’s important to do periodic check-ins with ourselves and each other. I’ve been feeling pretty upbeat about life these last few weeks during the day, but my anxiety manifests itself at night. For the last few weeks, I’ve struggled with 2am wake-ups and difficulty getting back to sleep, and it definitely does a number on my energy levels. Anyone else dealing with sleep disturbances in all this? I’m revisiting all the tools I learned when I first struggled with insomnia a couple years ago, but it hasn’t been an easy fix to get back on track.

And as I’m reminding myself: it’s okay to not be okay all the time. We’re dealing with a lot, and the best we can do is stay present, love on the people in our lives, and find joy in the little things.
