You may remember her posts A Guide to Staying Stress-Free During the Holidays and A Guide to Gifting from years past, and she’s back again to give us her helpful hints for organizing all of your holiday gift wrap.
We always say that some of the hardest items to organize are gift wrapping supplies. From big rolls of wrapping paper to endless ribbon spools, it can easily become a big mess. And if you’re like me, you accumulate more and more irresistible items throughout the year. Every year around the holidays, I have clients come to me asking for help organizing their holiday gift wrap. By taking the time to check your inventory and making sure that all of your tools are in one place, you can take some of the craziness out of gifting this holiday season.

Tip #1: Take an inventory of all of your gift wrapping supplies.
Start by gathering all of your wrapping supplies into one room. This will help you see what you have and what you need to purchase. You’ll also be less stressed when wrapping gifts because your supplies aren’t scattered all throughout the house. Go through your inventory at least once a year and throw out any torn or tattered supplies, and donate outdated or excess supplies to a local school or charity.
Here is a list of supplies that are always good to have on hand:
- Wrapping paper
- Gift bags
- Tissue paper
- Gift boxes
- Envelopes
- Cards
- Ribbon
- Bows
- Tags
- Weighted tape dispenser
- Scissors
- Pens
- Bone folder
- Rotary cutter
- Ruler
Tip #2: Designate a certain night to wrap gifts.
Save time by choosing one night to wrap all of your gifts for the holiday season. You’ll be able to streamline your process by knocking out all of your gift wrapping in one day. If you’re in the entertaining mood, host a gift wrapping party with friends or family members! It’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season with hot cocoa and Christmas music.
Tip #3: Invest in smart storage solutions for your gift wrapping supplies.
After you’ve finished wrapping and the holiday season is over, be sure to store all of your supplies in an organized way that allows for easy access throughout the year. Find some space in a spare bedroom, closet, desk nook, or section of the garage that you can designate as your wrapping supplies station. Think about how often you’ll need to access your wrapping supplies and choose an area that is accessible and best fits your needs.
