September is here, and even though fall doesn’t technically arrive until the end of the month, in most parts of the country the produce is thankfully starting to reflect that change is in the air.
Last month, zucchini was the star of the show – featuring plenty of simple, fresh dishes. This month, it’s not quite as wickedly hot outside, so we’re beginning to cozy up to the idea of slow roasting foods and enjoying warming flavors. And luckily, sweet potatoes naturally lend themselves to all of the above.
Aside from feeling like a big warm hug topped with cinnamon, sweet potatoes are an incredibly healthy vegetable.
They’re a great source of fiber, help promote the growth of good gut bacteria, and they help to support your immune system. They can even give your vision a boost! And from a cooking standpoint, they’re extremely versatile, easily incorporated into sweet and savory dishes.
I can only eat roasted sweet potatoes so many times before I start longing to mix things up, so I’m always looking for creative ways to enjoy this magical veggie. From a twist on the classic sweet potato casserole to chocolate sheet cake (you read that right!), I’ve rounded up 11 very tasty sweet potato-based recipes that you can enjoy all fall long.
