Hands up if you could use a spa vacation. Yeah, me too. But most of us aren’t getting one any time soon (thanks, back-to-work schedules and post-holiday budgets!) However, none of that’s stopping me from embracing the self-care habits that I know will make 2020 my healthiest, most vibrant year yet!
From design updates to my bathroom to a few new beauty treats that smell amazing and really work, I’m focusing on the little upgrades that pack a major punch. It’s all about making time for restorative moments even when life gets crazy.
We all want to make our lives less stressed and more fun this year, so why wait for the next vacation? I can’t think of anything more luxurious that slowing down and savoring a self-care moment every morning and every night – right from home. Scroll on for how I teamed up with Target to turn my bathroom into self-care central in 7 totally doable steps…
Plush White Towels For The Win
It can be tempting to fill your bathroom cabinets with colorful patterned towels, but I’ve stuck to an all-white rule for years in my bathroom. Not only does it give me a collection of towels that feel crisp and uniform, but adding to my stash and replacing worn towels is seamless with a neutral palette, like Target’s True White towels from Made By Design.
These feel like the super soft, incredibly absorbent towels that I love wrapping up in at a hotel — but since they’re $6 each, I can afford to stock my own bathroom shelves to indulge in these few luxury vibes every day.

Plants for All
Nothing adds peace and tranquility to a space like plants, and thanks to Target’s amazing selection of faux greens, even poorly lit bathrooms can enjoy a touch of nature. I mixed potted plants with cut greenery in vases for a variety of size and heights — and the best part is that I can’t kill them.

Just Add Bohemian Vibes
I took my inspiration from the drool-worthy hotels I’ve spotted around the world on Instagram, and incorporated natural textures and organic materials into my bathroom design. Rattan accent pieces, banana bark vases, and woven baskets are easy ways to bring a bit of boho spirit into a space without a complete renovation.

Baskets Are Your BFF
For concealing less-pretty bathroom staples like cotton balls and toilet paper, to collecting laundry and used hand towels, I love using Target’s woven baskets and bins for all my bathroom organization needs. There’s even one dedicated to stashing all my kids’ bath time toys! It’s amazing what a major difference just containing some things made to the overall visual look of the space.

In Sight and Top of Mind
I realized a few years ago that when my beauty and self-care products are hidden in bathroom drawers and cabinets, I don’t always remember to use them. Now I keep them on display on my bathroom shelves or in a simple tray on my vanity to remind me of the selection I own, and encourage me to put them to use. Bonus points that they’re pretty enough to count as decor accessories.
I’ve been mucho impressed with the upgrades Target has made to its beauty aisles over the past couple years. Not only have they brought in some cool indie brands that feel more under-the-radar, their clean beauty aisle has become my one stop shop for so many of my favorites. Offering natural, cruelty-free, and vegan beauty products, they also have a “Target Clean” icon to label the beauty and personal-care products that are certified clean a list of strict standards. A few of my faves from the beauty aisle:
Versed Look Alive Hydrating Face Mask
Honest Beauty Gentle Gel Cleanser
No7 Line Correcting Booster Serum
Pacifica Dreamy Youth Day and Night Face Cream
Kirsten Ess Signature Shampoo (actually, everything from Kirsten Ess)
For Bits and Bobbles
I love scattering small catch-alls throughout my space to avoid clutter in the bathroom. A small dish is the simple solution for sliding off jewelry while washing my hands, and guess what — I haven’t found myself on the frantic hunt for a hair tie or bobby pin in months!
Fill the Space with Scent
Perhaps the most powerful of the senses when it comes to invoking calm, infusing my space with scent was a key step in spa-ifying my bathroom. This Vetiver and Cedarwood scented candle is my go-to this time of year, or for a fresh scent that never goes out of season, I love to add a few drops of lavender essential oil to this Made By Design Ultrasonic Diffuser and relax as the steam engulfs me in a lavender haze of relaxation.
