The Wellness Products Helping Our Editors Get Ready for Fall Are…

Optimal health and wellbeing this way.

By Sacha Strebe

After a season of sun-filled days at the beach and late-night gatherings with friends (an Aperol spritz in hand), we’re finally ready to bid a warm farewell to summer. This might be an unpopular opinion, but when it comes to the seasons, my favorite is definitely fall. I mean, what’s not to love? Wearing turtlenecks in the crisp air, baking apple pies, testing out new cookie recipes, and staying in over going out—yeah, that sounds like my idea of bliss. Aside from a change in temperature though, the onset of fall also means getting back to work (expect to hear the phrase “ramping up” more than once!). The stress of an increased workload and holiday deadlines can take its toll on our health both mentally and physically which is why we wanted to share some of the products for health and wellness that our team is using right now to prepare—prevention over cure, after all!

So, keep reading for the 14 wellness products our editors are loving this month from game-changing humidifiers to deep tissue massagers and electrolyes, there’s something for everyone!

Canopy Humidifier

Canopy Humidifier

“Forget what you formerly knew about humidifiers because this brand has completely reinvented the classic we all know and love. Don’t worry, it still does the two main things you want a humidifier to do: promote healthy, glowing skin (which lets face it, we’ll all crave come fall), and relieve cold and flu symptoms. But here’s what makes this one different, it doesn’t have a visible mist or steam. Why is this better? Well, instead of wet air that can create mold in your home, the Canopy focuses on creating clean, filtered, hydrated air. In fact, their team tells me it’s the only anti-mold humidifier. And the best part is the smart sensors switch off the humidifier when the water has run out. No water left behind means mold can’t grow. It’s also pretty chic so I don’t mind having it on my nightstand.” — Sacha Strebe, deputy editor

Sharper Image massage gun

Sharper Image Powerboost Deep Tissue Percussion Massager

“This is a really good price compared to other guns I’ve seen and it works so well! I use it to release tension in my crazy tight shoulders and my husband and I take turns using it on each other during move nights. He loves it for random injuries since he’s an ultra marathoner. It’s truly therapeutic!” — Lauren Zielinski MSN, CNM, contributing editor

TheraOne Sleep CBD Tincture

TheraOne Sleep CBD Tincture

“I have the hardest time falling asleep and I swear by this product. The taste is great, and I wake up feeling so refreshed. Cannot live without it.” — Kelly Krause, contributing editor

Fluid Form Pilates At-Home Subscription

Fluid Form Pilates At-Home Subscription

“First, let me preface this by saying that Megan Roup’s The Sculpt Society is what got me through quarantine (and beyond!). Her “move your body” message is so refreshing and I always feel challenged from her dance cardio to her sculpt classes. But lately I’ve been incorporating pilates into my daily schedule to really focus on my core strength, and let me tell you, there is nothing more intense (in a good way!) then an ab workout with a pilates ball but the shakes are worth it. I’ve only been doing Fluid Form for the past month but I’m obsessed with her mini ab videos (don’t be fooled by the word “mini” though) and am already feeling a change in my core. It also helps that the instructor is an Aussie, so it feels like a piece of home during a time when I’m restricted from returning to the sunburnt country.” — Sacha Strebe, deputy editor

LMNT Electrolyte Drink Mix

LMNT Keto Electrolyte Drink Mix

“I’m taking a break from caffeine at the moment and have been on the hunt for alternatives that give me lasting energy without the jitters. I had heard praises about this electrolyte drink mix on various podcasts, and after finally ordering some to try I’m completely hooked. I put half of a packet in a large YETI every morning after I workout, and feel so much more hydrated and energized throughout the day. It tastes a bit salty at first, but breaking up the packet in the morning and afternoon helps, and now I crave the taste!” — Michelle Nash, senior producer

Ursa Major Brighten Up Vitamin C Serum

Ursa Major Brighten Up Vitamin C Serum

“Anyone else feel like the market for Vitamin C serums is filled, filled, and overfilled? Luckily, Ursa Major’s Brighten Up Vitamin C Serum actually delivers on its promise of radiant, hydrated, brightened skin—it’s heads above some of its pricier competitors. With a citrusy rose scent, this is one product that has a permanent place in my daily beauty routine.” — Anne Campbell, contributing editor

HeatHealer Infrared Sauna Blanket

HeatHealer Infrared Sauna Blanket

“After researching the health benefits of infrared, I found numerous studies that show they can reduce joint pain and stiffness in people with rheumatoid arthritis; can improve cardiovascular health by improving your blood vessels’ ability to expand and adapt to changes in blood pressure; small studies have also shown they can enhance recovery after strength and endurance training by improving neural recovery; and they can even improve skin complexion and health, reduce lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation. While some of the other claims (weight loss, enhanced sleep, etc.) aren’t backed up by science, I have noticed a significant improvement in my ability to fall asleep after using infrared whether via the blanket or an LED mask. So, in the end, if it helps your own health and wellness, it’s totally worth it. I have also found it to be a meditative experience because it invites me to pause and focus on relaxation which has been a game-changer for me. What I love about this particular brand is that it has a full layer of flat jade and tourmaline stone which are conductors of infrared heat and emit negative ions to really ramp up the feel good factor. Plus, it’s made from non-toxic materials and thanks to a layer of soft cotton, the blanket is super comfortable. And yes, it’s an investment, but I think it’s one of the better ones on the market for what you get. And who doesn’t want to lie on jade and tourmaline stones?” — Sacha Strebe, deputy editor

Renee Rouleau Weightless Protection SPF

Renee Rouleau Weightless Protection SPF

“I’ve been using another brand for years and recently switched over after being gifted product to try. Renee is best in the biz with 25 years under her belt so I absolutely #ObeyRenee. This product really is weightless like its name suggests and that goes for the consistency and the feeling it leaves upon application. This won’t leave you feeling greasy or oily like traditional sunscreen but still has the same protection—it’s a win, win!” — Kelly Krause, contributing editor

Truvani Protein + Greens

Truvani Protein + Greens

“As a vegetarian, I have tried a lot of protein powders but somehow they always seem to leave me bloated at the end of the day… until this one! Not only does it ensure I’m getting the recommended daily dose, but it also tastes great (I have it alone with water but would be great added to a smoothie) and makes me feel good too. It’s organic and non-GMO (which I think is a priority when buying protein powder) and doesn’t include any filler ingredients like gums, ‘natural’ flavors and citric acid. And there’s seven leafy greens and sprouts including kale and spinach so you’re also getting your daily dose of fiber.” — Sacha Strebe, deputy editor

VOESH Vitamin C Shower Filter

VOESH Vitamin C Shower Filter

“If you live in a city like me that has hard water—it contains relatively high levels of calcium and magnesium—then you’ll know the struggle is real when it comes to hair health. Hard water leaves mineral deposits on pipes, appliances and dishes, and requires more soap when cleaning so you can imagine what this is also doing to your hair. I have always used a shower filter to help soften the water and it’s helped immensely. Recently I was introduced to the Voesh Vitamin C shower filter and consider me converted. The vitamin C removes residual chlorine and other impurities from hard water which has helped to soften my skin and condition my hair. It’s also packed with vegan probiotics and oatmeal powder for extra protection and hydration. Oh, and it smells delicious too.”

HUM Skin Squad Prebiotic + Probiotic Supplement

HUM Skin Squad Prebiotic + Probiotic Supplement

“I have been a big fan of HUM supplements for a while now and while there are a few in their line-up that I love (I’m looking at you Wing Man), my favorite, can’t live without supplement is their Skin Squad. It combines prebiotics (the food that feeds the good bugs) with nine strains of probiotics to create a healthy gut microbiome to help with IBS, bloating, and clear skin. I don’t have issues with breakouts generally, my issue was bloating but I take them as a preventative to help reduce any potential pimples especially around my period.”

Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask

Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask

“Aside from the obvious skin health benefits of an LED mask—reduces fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, and redness—I have personally found them to be restorative, providing a few minutes of mindfulness when I need it. But I wasn’t expecting how much LED would help me fall asleep at night. And when I looked into, there is some research that suggests red light may help stimulate sleep. I have certainly found that it does.”

Beauty Chef Gut Primer

Beauty Chef Gut Primer

“I have been a big fan of The Beauty Chef’s Glow powder for years so I already knew going into this that I’d love her new gut primer. Designed by fellow Aussie, Carla Oates this supplement was designed to support a healthy digestive system—which is really what The Beauty Chef is all about. It has a host of holistic ingredients that help sooth and repair the gut lining and prevent inflammation including slippery elm and milk thistle. Oh, and it tastes delicious.”

Alo High Waist Zip-It Flare Legging

Alo High Waist Zip-It Flare Legging

“Now that I work from home, I am making a concerted effort to leave the house and walk around the neighborhood to get some much-needed fresh air and time in nature. To stay motivated, I wake up and put on my workout clothing so all I need to do come afternoon is add shoes and a hat, then walk out the door. Lately I’ve been loving these Alo flare leggings because they act like workout clothes but look like a fashion item. They’re so soft and comfortable too.”
